Game Day!
         Happy Birthday Bryson!


We are learning what Memorial Day is.

Project: We often see poppies for sale this time of year. The children will learn why this is done and make a poppy to bring home.

Music Today

  Our final Irish Pride Celebration will be held outside at 1:15. 

We will cheer on the 6th graders as they take on teachers and staff in a game of Kickball this afternoon. Freezies will be provided from our PTA!
 Computer class this afternoon.

                Phonemic Awareness: Change the Middle Sound
Vowels can be tricky to hear within CVC words. Make this into a game by challenging them to figure out the new word. Nonsense words make it even more fun! You can find activities on YouTube that support this skill.

                   Phonemic Awareness: Change the Middle Sound

Make a new word by changing the middle sound. 

Word Family Focus: -un

KinderLiteracy: Butterflies

We'll discuss these vocabulary words within the story (nectar, chrysalis, migration, instinct, generation). Answer these questions:

1) Who is the author? What is their job?

2) What is one fact we heard from the book?

 Again, keep exposing your kids to coins so they learn their names and values as this will help when they do money values in First Grade.

The comprehension strategy this week is Visualizing.

Book Club is finished for the year as all their books need to be turned in for inventory and no new ones checked out. It has been a wonderful journey helping them get started on their road to being literate!

Naming the coins and telling their value can be tricky for some kids. Keep exposing your kids to coins so they learn their names and values.
