**Each word family has a home link that we ask you do with your child. The more they work with this skill, the better they will read! It will come home the first day we introduce a family. 
 Reading Skills: Main Idea and Supporting Details (Chapter 4)
Again, using the book What Are Some Rules at Home? the kids will:
~Ask questions about the text.
~Identify main ideas and supporting details.
~Learn about nonfiction text structures (description).
~Build oral language and vocabulary through whole-group discussion.

 Our storybook reader this morning is scheduled for 9:10 to read Room on the Broom.

Again, the children select literacy-based activities off a shelf to increase skill development for letters, sounds, and words. 
               Writer's Workshop: Ask and Write
We are encouraging the children to ask questions of their partner's illustrations. The idea here is for the illustrator to possibly add more detail to their picture if something isn't clear to the person asking the questions.

**At 2:15, we will go on a costume parade throughout the elementary hallways.

**The children will assist in making the "FRANKENtreat" pudding snack (See Picture above).


~We enjoyed celebrating with Charlie yesterday!
~Have a fun and safe night of trick-or-treating! We invite you to send in any extra candy that you won't eat for our school to send to the troops overseas.

While we may take the pencil for granted, but it's important to truly teach the proper grasp. It's likely that we have all heard the song Where is Thumbkin but did you know each of our fingers has a special job to do when holding a pencil? The only fingers not doing the work are Ringer & Pinky. The others work together to touch where the brown meets the colored part of the pencil.
