 Kinderliteracy
This week's theme is Transportation

Focused text:
Transportation in my Neighborhood by: Shelly Lyons
Reading skill: Connections & Inferring
Today, the children will hear the story for enjoyment and build an interest in the topic and expand their prior knowledge by telling me what they already know about the seasons. After the reading, I will write what they learned and add it to what they already know.

Today I am introducing Literacy Jobs. These are baskets of purposeful activities that allow children to practice skills in letter sounds, upper/lowercase letter matching, letter order, sight words and more. The kids will be taught how to use the activities independently and efficiently. Literacy Jobs (Stations) will last about 45 minutes each day.

Kindermath: Sort By More than One Attribute
The lesson begins with reading, The Button Box by Margarette Reid. I will ask their thoughts on how the buttons are being sorted (size, color, shape, style, etc.) Then we will look at a pile of attribute buttons and talk about how they think we should sort them. More than likely, the kids will focus on color so I will get them to think past that. (Sort by shape, button hole amount, size, etc.)
~Overall, I am seeing improvement with writing numbers 0-5!

~Conference notices were sent home Friday. Be sure to send back the white sheet that was attached. Thank you!
