Social Studies Connection: Perseverance

In this fiction text, children meet a young girl named Mei Mei and her grandpa, Gong Gong. Gong Gong teaches Mei Mei how to do tai chi, and she works hard to figure out the complex hand, arm, and leg movements. Mei Mei teaches Gong Gong how to do yoga, and he works hard to learn the different poses. Even though they both struggle to learn new things, they persevere.

Project: Leprechaun Traps
I anticipate a lot of excitement for this project! The sixth graders will be coming to help from 1:00-2:45 and then we will find just the right spots to place the traps for overnight! I do plan to send any extra materials your child doesn't use home with them. Let me know if you don't want what is left and we can add it to our classroom art supplies.
