      Friday, December 11
Happy Birthday Rayna!
Letter Focus: Letter Review (W, X)
Sight Words: you, we
Reading Workshop:  We have enjoyed working with the book, The Enormous Watermelon all week long while focusing on the story elements. Today, we are going to pretend we are the characters from the story and write a letter to Old Mother Hubbard thanking her for letting us help get the enormous watermelon pulled out of her garden and eating it.
Character Education:  Mrs. Weninger will focus on the Unthinkables: One-Sided Sid and Worry Wall. Your child will bring a descriptor home of each today.

 Math:
New Concept:  Yesterday we played a game where we broke apart numbers and put them on our whole/part/part boards. I want to show you how we can write this down.
Demonstrate using the whole/part/part boards with cubes. Then use a white board marker to fill in the blanks on the math talk card.  Repeat with several examples.
Whole Group Explore: Today you will work with your partner like you did yesterday.  However, today you will be writing on your math talk card, just like I did.
Student Application: Students will practice breaking whole numbers into parts while writing their numbers. They will also write the number combinations.
Computer class today.
