We begin a new unit today called Numbers 10-19.
**A note from the author of this unit..."Teen numbers are no easy task for kindergarten students. With the preface of unit 5 you will see that your students now have a foundation for teen numbers and are ready to tackle them as numerals. As you read through my lessons you will see repeated the term, “ten and some extras.” It is vital when learning teen numbers that your students know they are teen numbers for one reason only...they all contain ONE group of ten. Be sure that your students do not think teen numbers are a 1 and a 2.
A 1 and 2 make 3 and not 12. Your students should know and be able to explain that 10 and 2 make twelve not 1 and 2.
In this unit you will hear the reference to “say ten” push ups. Say ten push ups are yet again another way students can see visually the combinations that teen numbers are made up of. They are made up of ten and some extras! You can see this in action HERE.

~The kids had a blast on Friday for our Reindeer Games...making reindeer bread, a reindeer project, antlers and finally, doing a reindeer run in the hallways!
The children even saw reindeer 'poop' straight from the North Pole!
~We will be shopping at Santa's Secret Shop on Wednesday morning.
