Math:  Shape Puzzles-DAY 4  

Using paper pattern blocks, the kids will fill an area with the corresponding shape or experiment with other shapes that can fill a space. This will be the last day of this lesson.

New Word Work:
1) Keyboard/Ipad Spelling: Find a popcorn word, type it on the keyboard than write it on the paper Ipad.

2) Find the Pot of Gold: Lift the green paper to see the picture on the pot of gold. Write the word that goes with the corresponding sentence.

Smart Room Highlight: The apps on the mini Ipads continue to provide great skill development for fine motor.

 Our Irish Pride celebration is today beginning at 1:45.
  Yesterday, Luigi the Leprechaun was spotted on top of the SmartBoard with a note to introduce himself. Each day the kids will be making a journal entry as to where they think Luigi will be.

Luigi is hiding in a pocket chart today.

 **We enjoyed celebrating Aurora's summer birthday yesterday!

  Language Arts: Using the big book, Who's in the Shed? by Brenda Parkes, the children will be working on making inferences/predictions before and during the reading.

 Math: Pattern Block Shapes...DAY 3
Using paper pattern blocks, the kids will fill an area with the corresponding shape or experiment with other shapes that can fill a space. For instance, a hexagon can be made with two trapezoids.

Their work focuses on:
~Finding combinations that fill an area.
~Developing language to describe 2-D shapes and their attributes.
~Exploring relationships among pattern block shapes.
 
~Music Today!

 Smart Room Highlight: The kids collect coins on the balance beam and then walk backwards on the striped tape.

*The kids are enjoying and learning so much from the Vinci Tablets. Each day they choose where they want to sit and work.
