Reader's Workshop: Using the poster Splash Time, the kids will:

New Concept: Today we are going to play “Shake, Shake, Shake” again. We are going to start with 6 counters in my cup (count them as you put them in). Now I am going to shake them and spill them out on the floor. I have to be really careful to keep my pieces close to me. Now I can talk about this. “I have 4 red and 2 yellow...That makes 6.” I can also write about this. 4 + 2 = 6. Repeat this demonstration a few times.
Whole Group Explore: Students will start with 6 chips in their cup. Half way through the explore, we will add another chip to their cup.
Smart Room Highlight: Your Eyes ONLY!
While lying on their back with their eyes directly below the tennis ball, the kids gently tap it so it swings from left to right. Without moving their head, they follow the ball with only their eyes.
Earth Week
Each day this week, we will learn how to help take care of our earth. Today, the children will meet Mother Earth (puppet). She will tell all about her wish to keep our earth strong and healthy. The kids will be making their own Mother Earth too.
