 Writer's Workshop: Labeling
Today, we begin a new unit on labeling. To launch the lesson, the mentor text My Map Book by Sara Fenelli will trigger ideas of how labeling gives us information. A silly way to engage the kiddos is to label me! After stretching out words together on sticky notes, the kids will place them on me!
I will send an introduction letter home in their folder today explaining the unit.

KinderMath: Compare Length
The kids will continue to build their knowledge of comparing sizes. They will compare the length between two items and use 'math talk' to explain the difference. "The string is longer than the shoe." or "The pencil is shorter than the book." This is an engaging activity for the children because they will choose what to measure throughout our classroom.

Social Studies:
Learning About the Wampanoag

Today we are going to begin learning about another important group of people called the Wampanoag. Native Americans, or Indigenous people, lived in America thousands of years before the Pilgrims and other colonists came. The Indigenous group that lived near where the Pilgrims settled are known as the Wampanoag.

In addition, please read the publisher's article that comes home today that explains how we will be teaching the teen numbers so your child can get a stronger understanding of what a teen number is.
