Using the story, the kids will answer simple recall questions such as: What is the job of an author/illustrator? Is this a fiction or nonfiction book? What is a fact we learned from the book? We will clarify the vocabulary words within the story (crackle, danger, signals, pupil, protect).

Writer's Workshop: Person and Setting 
For awhile now, the kids have been illustrating different people and objects. Today, they will put the two together as a "person and setting" in their illustration storybook.

 Irish Pride Celebration Today at 10:20
 Students of the month for October will be recognized as well as an introduction to new students to Maple Lake. The new character word for the month will also be introduced which is respect. We end the celebration by singing our Irish Pride song.
