Today we celebrate becoming story writers from the Narrative Unit! Turn on the dance music and disco ball...we are going to make a BIG deal about this! Crowns and certificates will be handed out and I hope you can make a BIG deal of their story they bring home today!

KinderMath: Combos to 10

The kids will be doing a couple of hands-on activities to work on combining numbers to make 10. First, they will play Spill the Cup with 10 red/yellow chips inside to find as many combos to 10 they can. Next, they will play Flip the Cup which follows the same idea except the kids will have cups to turn over to make combos to 10 like the photo below.

                KinderMath: Adding 0 and 1
In today's lesson, the kids will work on the concept of adding on 0 and 1. This will be done by using a 'life-size' number path (1-10) on our classroom floor. Each child will have a turn to show what happens when we add 1 more by hopping to that number. For instance, if they are standing on 3 and I say, "Add 1",  they would hop to 4. Next, the kids will take turns to show what happens when I say, "Add 0".  Again, the idea within this entire unit is laying the foundation for using +, -, = symbols.

Orange Day: Technology
Technology class at 8:20. 

Oh my, the shenanigans have already started!
Those sneaky leprechauns have left green footprints all over the morning message and have messed with a few things in our classroom!

 In fact, they turned all the papers for math & literacy mini-size and replaced the crayons, pencils, and markers with mini ones! Even more, they left a note on each of their traps telling the kids that they couldn't be fooled!

We will be on the lookout ALL day for more of their suspicious activity! Maybe we will find them here in the fields of Ireland...

~The sixth graders were a HUGE help to the littles! It was fun to watch them work together to make the best kind of trap to get those sneaky leprechauns! I will send the trap home with your child today.
