Friday, January 31 Happy Birthday Levi! (tomorrow) Character Education: Each Friday for the remainder of the year, the children will be visited by Mrs. Weninger, our school Social Worker. She is working with the children on building character, recognizing and understanding feelings, and other social-skill concepts. She will visit from 8:25-8:45.

Language Arts: Retell the events of the story Katy's First Day of School. Again, the kids will work on making inferences during the oral reading of the story. Writer's Workshop: The kids are writing a note to you for conferences. Handwriting: Lowercase s Math: Double Compare With a partner, the kids will flip over two cards and add the sum. The child with the larger sum takes all the cards for that round. Their work focuses on: ~Combining two amounts. ~Comparing two quantities to determine which is more. DAILY 5!

Phonics: Review 'th, sh, ch, wh' Writer's Workshop: I will be modeling another entry on chart paper and send the kids on their way to work on theirs!
Project: Snowkids (Making ourselves in a snowsuit.) Math: Day 2: One More, One Fewer In
this activity, the kids turn over a number card and write that number
down as well as showing it on a ten frame. Next, a -1 or +1 cube is
rolled to change that number to one more or one less than the number
written down. Their work focuses on: ~Developing an understanding of more than and fewer than. ~To add and subtract numbers. ~To model the action of combining and separating situations. No library today...It is in use for Battle of the Books for grades 3-6.
