The kids have been working so hard in this unit! We must never take for granted the importance of these strategies and concepts learned as they lay the foundation for true number sense. The kids are learning how to write the numbers 2, 3, 4, 5 correctly and will continue to practice those as we move forward.
Today, the children will roll a dot cube, count how many dots and write the number. If time allows, we will act out the story Five Little Ducks.

 Bus Safety
The children may be seeing a live puppet show put on by M & M Bus Co. inside one of their buses this afternoon. The puppets help reinforce the topics we have learned as well as present some new safety topics.

~Many of you may know Kelli & Tom Paumen from Maple Lake. Kelli is battling Brain Cancer and their son, Wyatt, is in our class. I would like our class to 'adopt' Kelly and support Wyatt as she continues her journey toward getting better. To lift her spirits, we will draw pictures, write letters, take videos, etc throughout the year. Your child is receiving a 'Team Kelli' bracelet in the Wednesday envelope to wear at school, if you wish. Tom & Kelli have given me permission to share her Caringbridge site with you.

This week's theme is Apples and the focused text is: Apples for Everyone by: Jill Esbaum
Using the story, Apple for Everyone, the kids will ask/answer simple recall questions such as: Where does this story take place?, What kind of book is this?, What is a fact we learned about apples?, etc. In addition, we will address unknown vocabulary (bloom, ripe, thud, dribble, rot).
Image result for kindermath Kindermath: Understand Quantities 0-5
This lesson focuses on being able to state a quantity regardless of the arrangement or position of items. For instance, a group of 5 blocks (lined up, placed in a circle, stacked) is still 5.
Bus Safety
Stay seated on the bus and cross in front of the bus safely.

   Phy Ed today!

~Please help your child memorize their lunch number. Thank you!
~Tomorrow's lunch has been changed to spaghetti with meat sauce instead of the protein grain bowl.
