KinderLiteracy
Again, KinderLiteracy is the name of our reading program we use for kindergarten at Maple Lake. It digs deep into texts to help build understanding and meaning through weekly themes that support comprehension.
This week's theme is Friends and the focused text is: Huggapotamus by: Steve Metzger.
Today, the children will hear the story for enjoyment and build an interest in the topic and expand their prior knowledge.

**Our math time is scheduled for an hour or more each day.
Each lesson contains six components for full, hands-on, purposeful engagement.
~Whole-Group Number Sense
~Collaborative Number Sense (partner work)
~Whole-Group Fluency
~Whole-Group Skill Focus Lesson
~Collaborative Lesson Follow-Up (partner work)
~Independent Practice (Typically, the math sheet that comes home.)
The children are continuing to learn about the calendar routine and how to enter the data into their 'laptops' (calendar books) that coincide with the slides on the Smartboard.

Phy Ed today!

~Kindergarten is attending a presentation about kindness at 1:30 today.
~Mrs. Weninger, Mr. Sawatzke, and Officer Fox visited us on Friday to talk about being respectful, responsible, and safe at school.
~Be sure to talk to your child each day about what they are learning. This helps to get deeper answers to "What did you do at school today?"
