A number of activities will support the skills in today's lesson. The kids will roll a dot cube to fill in a 10-Frame, make cube towers of 10, and play the game, Guess My Number. In this game, each pair has a number path from 1-10.  KinderMath: Read and Write 9
In addition to focusing on number 9, the kids will work on identifying the missing number in a counting sequence (7, _ , 9) as well as counting on from 5 using a Ten Frame as shown.

We want the children to see that within the ten frame, the top row has 5 and one more below it. We count: "5,6". There is no need to count each dot if we train our brain to see "5" automatically. They will continue counting on with numbers 7-9.

Project: Pip the Pup Pumpkin
The kids will put the finishing touches on Pip.

Mrs. Weninger will introduce the children to the superhero characters, Blurting Bob and Topic Twister. The photo just shows Topic Twister.

~Repeating beginning sounds.

KinderLiteracy: Pumpkins
I will reread parts of Pumpkin Town! so the children can answer text-dependent questions like the ones below:
~What evidence did the author provide to show that the boys had made a mistake by throwing out the pumpkin seeds?
~How did the townspeople's feelings change throughout the story?
~What occurs after the boys clean up the pumpkins for the townspeople?
KinderWriting: Storytellers Visualize Stories
We can use any of our 5 senses to visualize a story that is being told. Today I will tell a story of blue train that chugs and gets louder as it approaches me. As it gets closer, I smell the steam and the burning of the breaks as it comes to a screeching halt. What did we hear? What did we smell? Next, each kid will tell a story about the lunchroom to their partner. What could you see? Hear? Taste? Touch? Smell?

 Library Day!
 KinderMath: Read and Write 8
Today's lesson focuses on understanding what the number 8 is and how it can be represented in multiple ways. (writing the numeral, 8 fingers, tallies, number word, 8 objects, counting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 etc.) We will work on noticing that no matter how you arrange 8 cubes (in a row, stairs, in a rectangle, etc.) it is always 8. We also continue to work on what comes next in a sequence of numbers.
