KinderLiteracy: Pumpkins
This week's theme is Pumpkins and the focused text for the week is Pumpkin Town! by Katie McKy. Today, the children will hear the story for enjoyment and build an interest in the topic.
Comprehension Strategy: Inferring
Story Elements: Retell/Problem-Solution
KinderWriting: Writing with Pictures
We start Writer's Workshop today and our first lesson is called Storytellers. I will introduce what Writer's Workshop is and what the role of an illustrator is. Each day, the Writer's Workshop model is a mini-lesson that includes an I do. We do. You do. This is a systematic approach to help children learn step by step the process of writing.
KinderMath: Read and Write 6
We begin a new unit today called Numbers 1-10. Today, the lesson focuses on understanding what the number 6 is and how it can be represented in multiple ways. (writing the numeral, 6 fingers, tallies, number word, 6 objects, counting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. etc.) We will be using the story Hop Jump by Ellen Stoll Walsh to help with counting and playing two games that involve counting: Roll & Count and Roll & Fill.
Zero the Hero visits today for Day 30!
