KinderLiteracy: Storms
We will focus these vocabulary words within the story (weather, crystal, electricity, funnel) and answer these questions:
1) Who is the author? What is their job compared to the illustrator?2) What is one fact we heard from the book?
The children are going to edit/revise any pictures and labels throughout their story they have been working on.
Literacy Jobs
We will work on the difference in unknown problems. The kids will show the problem using cubes and write the problem statement. The following is an example of the problems they will work on.
My teacher has 10 flowers and my principal has 7 flowers. How many fewer flowers does my principal have than my teacher?
It's important the kids are confident in stating how many fewer there are. Again, this can be very difficult for the kids as they are most confident with more.
In this lesson, students observe and describe the weather, paying attention to the sun, the temperature, the wind, and precipitation. In the activity, Be a Weather Watcher, students observe and draw the weather around them.
