Writer's Workshop: Sentence Stems
The next step in the writing process is using a Sentence Stem. Sentence Stems are used in order to write a complete sentence about their picture.

The kids will work with their partners to fill a teen number ten frame board to represent a teen number. I will show the number 17 and the kids fill their ten frame board to match. I will also do this with the numbers 11-16. Next, the kids will show their partner a hide ten card set and their partner will state what they see...“10 and 5, 15!” Finally, the kids will be using the Teen Number “and some more” cards to quiz their partners.
