For the remainder of the year, I will be taking kids for individual assessments during Literacy Jobs. Book bags will not be sent home however, the kids will be reading books from their book boxes every day in addition to their daily literacy work.

Today's lesson will have the kids continuing to graph and analyze data. However, today they will also learn how to survey their classmates by asking them what animal is their favorite from a group of four choices. After collecting the data, they will analyze their results.
In this Read-Along lesson, Sam wonders why his grandmother wants to keep an old log in her yard—until he begins to meet a few of her friends. The lesson includes a short exercise where students pretend to be lizards eating ants, and discover why old logs are helpful to animals. We will extend the lesson with the optional activity, Animal Visitors, where the kids learn what they could put in a yard or park to attract animals.

~The book order is due Wednesday. This will be the last order for the year...Order here.
