Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Observance
Popcorn Word: be
SMART Room Highlight: Poking a hole through each dot...
DAILY 5
We are beginning to learn about Dr. Martin Luther King and how this man influenced our nation.
Stories:
Martin Luther King, Jr. By: Marion Dane Bauer
Writer's Workshop: The children will write about having their own hope and dream to make our world better.
The kids will color brown on a large sheet of paper. Next, they cut out an oval for Dr. King's head and a small circle for his nose. They then added hair, eyes and a moustache with black construction paper. Last but not least, a smile with red construction paper.
We will do this experiment today to show the kids that even though we look different on the outside, all of us look the same on the inside.

~On Friday I sent home your conference date and time. Please return the attached paper that tells me what you would like to chat about. If you could return those by tomorrow, that would be great!
~This week your child will pick a book from their browsing box to bring home 2 times this week to and nothing will be written in the reading bag communication folder. I am formally assessing each child throughout the week for your conference update next week.
