Reread the poster text with students.

Say: Now think about the content of this passage. What was it mostly about?

If necessary, point out that the author wants readers to know that there are many animals to see at the beach. To make this point, the author tells what animals the kids see.

Say: Let's look more closely at the text and find the most important details that help us summarize the passage. What important details can you find?

List the details students identify. Then reveal the Big Ideas annotations. Ask: Did we find all the big ideas, or important details? Let's compare lists.
