Literacy Shelf Time
Writer's Workshop: Writers Work on StaminaWriting takes time and muscles.
The children will be taught to work the whole time and that attempts at writing the sounds they hear is what we do. I tell them to use their "brave writing" and it doesn't have to be perfect. :)

DAILY 5
Math: MeasuringNew Concept: We have been making comparisons of objects. Objects that have more and objects that have less. Another way we can compare objects is by their size. Some objects are longer, some are shorter, and even some can be the same. Bring two students up and compare heights. Sort the students into the category of shorter, longer/taller, and same. Select two students who are about the same height. Show the students how they are the about the same. Then ask one student to stand on a small step stool or a few blocks. Is John now taller than Bob? Many will say yes. Explain that John is still the same height, but we are not measuring correctly.
Whole Group Explore: Today you are going to measure a few things in the room. Just like when we measured John, you will need to be sure that you line up the bottom of the object. You will be comparing or measuring using a craft stick. Your partner and you will be on a hunt for things in the room that are longer/taller, shorter, or the same. You will draw a picture and/or label the items you find.
Student Application: Students will practice tracing and writing 5, 6, 7
Students will color the objects that are taller/longer.
Students will draw a scarecrow that is taller.
SMART Room: Sit & SpinThis works on strengthening the core!
