More work with Sequence of Events

Pictured below are some activities the children choose from for Word Work and Work on Writing.

New Concept: "I want to measure how long this pencil is so I am going to use my cubes to measure it. First I estimate and snap some cubes together. Then I measure. I have to be sure that I line them up on the end. Now I snap off any extra. If the pencil lands in the middle of the cube {we round up}. Then we count to see how many cubes it is. We can say, “My pencil is about 8 cubes long.”
I will provide a few examples before I send the kids off to work.
Whole Group Explore: Today you get to hunt around the room to measure a few items. Be sure you are very careful to line the cubes with the bottom or edge of the item you are measuring. Student Application: Students will count and write their numbers 8, 9, 10.
Student’s will order the pumpkins from tallest to shortest.
Art: The beginning stages of a holiday scene...
Mary Zillman will be working with the kids on a holiday scene today. This lesson will take a few sessions to complete.

~Keep working on those sight words! :)
