Math: Counting Strategies
New Concept: Today you will be working with a different manipulative to demonstrate and support the counting strategies. Students need multiple opportunities to practice the same skills. We will be adding rigor by working with larger numbers. Providing a different manipulative will add novelty to the task and raise students’ engagement. Place a pile of manipulatives in front of you (roughly 15-20). I will place the manipulatives on the ten-frame in the same fashion as I did yesterday. 
Whole Group Explore: Today you will practice counting the manipulatives in your bag.  Remember our counting strategies as you count your buttons.    
Student Application: We will need to use the count and check strategy on our paper again today. We won’t be able to move the pictures, so we will want to check them off as we count them.
