New Concept: The other day we played a game where we broke apart numbers and put them on our whole/part-part boards. I want to show you how we can write this down. Demonstrate using the whole/part-part boards with cubes. Then use a white board marker to fill in the blanks on the math talk card. Repeat with several examples.
Whole Group Explore: Today you and your partner will be writing on your math talk card, just like I did.
Student Application: Students will practice breaking whole numbers into parts while writing their numbers. They will also write the number combinations.
