Happy New Year! The children are making a picture of themselves blowing a horn to ring in 2019!

Work Stations: We have many new literacy stations now available for Word Work and Work on Writing.
Math: "Mix It, Fix It, Flip It"
New Concept: When we count, we count up by 1’s. Every time
I say a number I add one. Start adding 1 cube to the 10 frame until you
reach 10. Sometimes we count down by 1’s like when a rocket is ready to
launch. Start removing the cubes until you reach 0. 10, 9, 8…
I want to show you a little game. I am going to call it “Mix it, Fix it, Flip it.”
First I am going to mix up all of my cards with the number side showing.
Now I am going to fix it. I will count down by 1, so I will start with 10.
What number will I put next? Continue to have the students chime in to tell
you the next number. Now, I am going to flip it. I will flip all of my cards
over until just the dots are showing. Next, I will mix it. Then I will fix it.
Then I will flip it again. I want to see how fast I can fix it.
Whole Group Explore: Today you will play, “Mix it, Fix it, Flip it.” Both you
and your partner will work together at the same time to mix the cards, fix
the cards, then flip the cards. See how quickly you can fix them.
Remember… we will be counting down, so you will start with the 10 card.
Student Application: Students will order their 10 frames from 10-1.

**We now have a vet clinic play area in our classroom. Two vets can play in the area at one time. A waiting area accommodates those waiting to have their pets seen by the doctor. Oh, the imaginative play that will take place!
~Welcome to the Maple Lake Vet Clinic...

~Be sure to return your homework packet. Lunch will be in our classroom tomorrow.
~Please email me if you need a new sight word list.
~Please send in a tube of Chapstick that your child can keep at school or in their backpack. Thanks!
