To launch today's lesson, the children will hear the story, Everyone Can Learn to Ride a Bicycle by: Chris Raschka. This story tells the sequence of learning to ride a bike. There are a lot of steps presented in the story, so I will model how to shorten it into 3-4 major steps. This helps teach the children that it doesn't have to be overwhelming to write how to do something.

 Handwriting: Question & Answer

Math: Add with Objects
We begin a new unit today called Addition Word Problems. The kids will work with snap cubes to solve simple word problems..."I had 3 pencils and 2 crayons. How many in all?" "I had 2 chairs and 6 more chairs. How many chairs in all?", etc.
