Math: Addition Stories

In this lesson, the kids will continue to work on addition but move into word problems.  To help launch today's lesson, we will read What's New at the Zoo by: Suzanne Slade. Addition word problems require a lot of listening comprehension skills. These skills will, at times, need more practice than the addition equation itself.  “Farmer John has a mommy cat and kittens. The mommy cat was outside the fence and the 4 kittens were inside the fence. How many cats are there in all? ”1 + 4 = 5

PhyEd Today

Today, the kids will hear the stories of Travis Trash & Wee Recycle Ron, two boys who have very different views on caring for our earth. Following the story, we hope to head outside and pick up litter around our school.

Why throw empty paper towel rolls away when they can be made into something? The kids will paint them today to be ready for the project tomorrow.

~Late start tomorrow morning.
~The cafeteria will be unavailable tomorrow due to setting up for Post Prom. A bag lunch will be the only option available. It includes:
Turkey and cheese sandwich on a bun, baby carrots, fruit ( apple, orange), bag of mini pretzel Goldfish, & milk.
