Guided Phonics: R-Blends Review (Day 3)

KinderLiteracy: Seed to PlantWe will focus these vocabulary words within the story (soil, seedling, pollination, germination and answer these questions:
1) Who is the author? What is their job compared to the illustrator?
2) What is one fact we heard from the book?

KinderWriting: Authors Build Words & Read What They WriteWith encouragement, the kids are adding more words to their writing. There are many things to think about as an early writer...recalling sight words as well as other sounds to create words, capitalizing, spacing, syntax, punctuation, etc. After all of that, the author needs to read what was written to be sure it makes sense and has most of the elements mentioned earlier.
Math: Unknown Subtraction StoriesWe will work on the difference in unknown problems. The kids will show the problem using cubes and write the problem statement. The following is an example of the problems they will work on.
My teacher has 10 flowers and my principal has 7 flowers. How many fewer flowers does my principal have than my teacher?
It's important the kids are confident in stating how many fewer there are. Again, this can be very difficult for the kids as they are most confident with more.
