Today & tomorrow's theme is Bats and the focused text is Stellaluna by Janell Cannon
Today, the children will hear the story for enjoyment and build an interest in the topic.

Comprehension Strategy: Inferring

Today's lesson focuses on understanding what the number 7 is and how it can be represented in multiple ways. (writing the numeral, 7 fingers, tallies, number word, 7 objects, counting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. etc.) Again, we will use the story Hop Jump by Ellen Stoll Walsh to help with counting and playing two games that involve counting and identifying the next number in a sequence of numbers: Roll & Cover and What Comes Next?
