KinderLiteracy: Pumpkins
I will reread parts of Pumpkin Town! so the children can answer text-dependent questions like the ones below:
~What evidence did the author provide to show that the boys had made a mistake by throwing out the pumpkin seeds?
~How did the townspeople's feelings change throughout the story?
~What occurs after the boys clean up the pumpkins for the townspeople?

Writer's Workshop: My pumpkin is ____.
The kids will be guided in writing three descriptive words about the small pumpkin they decorated yesterday at our party. (A BIG thank you to Hudson's family for donating them!)

KinderMath: Comparing Sets One to One
The kids will work on counting objects in a set and then comparing that amount with their partner's set. This promotes math skill work of: compare, greater, less, same.

The children will do a few activities that work on comparing sets like the following:
Each child will pick a number card and build that amount with cubes. They will compare the towers they build with their math partner to see who has more/less.

Project: After hearing the story, Crankenstein, the kids will make a Frankenstein.

~The APEX pep rally yesterday afternoon sure helped the kids get pumped up for their new playground fundraiser/fun run on November 7! If you are able, thank you SO much for helping your child get sponsors for each lap they run!

Kindermath: Match Sets to Numerals
We begin a new unit in math called Comparing Numbers. Today, the kids will work on counting objects in sets and match the corresponding numeral. They will also do an activity that works on telling what number comes next within a sequence of numbers.

Our school is having a Fun Run Fundraiser Pep Rally this afternoon!
Over the next 6 school days, your child will learn leadership qualities from staff representing Apex Leaders Co. in preparation for the Fun Run to be held on November 7. Your child will be able to ask family & friends to sponsor their run. Proceeds from this exciting event are being used toward a new playground!
Watch for important info coming home today!
