Today's focus is /r/ as the second letter in a word after a consonant like in the words grab and frog. Please read this important information about it in the picture below.

KinderLiteracy: The Mitten 
The Mitten by: Jan Brett is the focus book for the week. 
As always, on Day 1 we read the story for enjoyment and build an interest in the topic without adding teaching points. 
The comprehension strategy the kids work on this week is Cause/Effect & Visualizing.

KinderMath 

We will look closely at how to build 14 the '10' way. Again, the teen numbers can be tricky so building on the understanding of what one group of ten is, we can make a teen number by counting on "some more".
