Math: Decomposing Numbers
New Concept: Today we will keep working with our number bonds.
Just like yesterday, I will tell you a story.  Instead of putting numbers together, we will be taking the numbers apart. Today we will do things a little differently.  Watch me as I use my board.
There were 7 apples...3 of them were green. How many were red?
Whole Group Explore: Now you will work with your partner as I tell the story.
Ricky had 10 cupcakes...6 were chocolate and the rest were vanilla. How many were vanilla?
 • Kayden collected 8 rocks...3 were smooth...The rest were rough. How many rough rocks did he have?
 • Olivia had 9 stars on her chart...6 were red and the rest were blue. How many blue stars did she have?
Student Application: Students will create their own number bonds to solve the problems.
PhyEd Today
Smart Room Highlight: Collecting Gold on the Balance Beam...
~Once the gold is collected, the kids walk backwards on the colorful line.
Some Leprechauns may visit our classroom today. It's likely that they will do some shenanigans by leaving their green footprints all over and even mess a few things up in our classroom! We will be on the lookout ALL day for any suspicious activity...
~We will be looking for Leprechauns throughout the day by visiting this site...
