New Concept: Today I want to build my own rooms! I am going to use 20 of these 1" squares. I can use them however I want to build my rooms.
I think I will make room #1 with these squares (use some of the squares). I will make room #2 with the rest of the squares. Let’s count each room to make sure we have 20 in all. Now I want to make 2 rooms that have the same number of squares and area, but I want their shapes to be different.
Whole Group Explore: Today you will build two rooms that have the same area. This means that each room will need to have the same number of squares.
Student Application: Students will create their own garden designs. Students should have the same number of flowers in each.
