Math: Composing, Decomposing Teen Numbers New Concept: Today I want to show you something a little different. I am going to spin my spinner and pull out the cards to match my spin. My spinner landed on 1 ten and 4 ones. So I will take my 10 and my 4. Then I will build these numbers with my beads. Now watch what happens when I slide the 4 over the 0. What number did I get? Yes! 14! Does that match the number of beads I counted out? Let’s count them to be sure **See the picture below for an idea of what the cards/beads should like to compose a teen number... ~This is a picture of the spinner and math talk cards...

Math: Composing/Decomposing Teen Numbers
New Concept: You know how we have been practicing our fluency with our fingers? Today I want to show you how you can use your fingers to count to numbers that are more than 10. I am going to use the spinner to make the number with my fingers. Then I will use the math talk card to talk about the number. You will first flash 10 fingers then the fingers needed to show the 1’s. Whole Group Explore: Today you and your partner will practice showing the “teen” numbers on your hands. The first partner will start by spinning the spinner. Then the second partner will show the number with their fingers and use the math talk card. Then you will switch jobs.
