Math: Composing/Decomposing Numbers

Spanish: The children will be introduced to animal names. The pictures below show the children playing Twister as they are told which color to touch in Spanish.
New Concept: Today we will keep working with our number bonds.
Sometimes when we have a math problem we have to know if we are going to put numbers together or if we have to take them apart. Listen to my story and tell me if I have to put the numbers together or take them apart.
•I had 10 coins. 3 of them were pennies, the rest were dimes.
Whole Group Explore: Now you will work with your number bond as I tell the story. You will want to pay attention to know if you need to put the numbers together or take them apart.
•I have 8 pairs of shoes. 3 of them have ties, but the rest do not.
•When I went out at recess, I saw 4 kids on the equipment and 6 playing basketball.
Student Application: Students will complete there own number bonds.
