Literacy Shelf
Again, the children select literacy-based activities off a shelf to increase skill development for letters, sounds, and words.
New Concept: I have something new for your to look at
today. Take the items out of your bag and explore them for a bit.(give
them a few minutes to look at them) Now imagine you are a bird. Look at
them from above what to do you see? Can you see any shapes? (circle?
Square?) Now imagine you are a bug. What are you noticing? (They are
not flat). Right! These are called solids or 3D shapes.
Whole Group Explore: We are going to go on a shape hunt. You and
your partner will take a clip board and see if you can find some of these shapes in the room.
Student Application:
Students will practice numeral formation 1-5.
Students will match the 3D shape with the object.
SMART Room Highlight: Frankenstein's Nuts & Bolts
The kids will enjoy putting the pieces together for Frankenstein and don't even know they're working on their fine motor skills! 😊
