Math: Ways to Make 6
New Concept: Yesterday we played 'Match Me' but today we are going to kick it up a notch. We are just going to work with the number 6, but we are going to do it in a fun new way. I am going to use two colors to make six. So I am going to use blue and orange cubes. If I start with 2 blue, I will need 4 orange to make 6, because 2 and 4 make 6. I need to be sure that I go back and count each cube to be sure I have 6 in all. Now, I want to make 6 a different way. I can start with 4 blue, how many more do I need to make 6?
Whole Group Explore: Today you will play match it with your partner. You will be building the number 6 in lots of different ways. Once you build it, your partner will match it. See how many different ways you can make 6.
Student Application: Students will practice writing the number 6.
Students will use two different colored crayons to make 6 in a variety of ways.
