Library Day
New Concept: Today I want to show you a new word. It is called a number bond. We have seen this in some of our math review, but today I want to use it to tell a story. We have learned about these before but they looked like puzzle pieces. These will work the same way, they will just look a little different. I am going to tell a story and use my number bond as I do.Library Day
There was a dog and he found 3 bones in the garden (put cubes in smaller circle). He found 4 bones by the shed (put cubes in the other small circle). How many bones did he find all together? (move all the cubes into the large circle)
Whole Group Explore: Now you will work with your partner as I tell the story.
•My bracelet had 6 yellow beads and 2 red beads. How many beads did they have in all?
•The boy caught 5 fish by the bank and 2 fish by the bridge. How many fish did he catch in all?
•The bird found 3 worms in the leaves and 6 worms in the grass. How many worms did she find all together?
Student Application: Students will create their own number bonds to solve the problems.
Science: Sticky Webs!
