Math: Addition Equations
New Concept: Today I want to teach you a new game. This game is called “Shake, Shake, Shake.” We are going to start with 5 counters in my cup (count them as you put them in). Now I am going to shake them and spill them out on the floor. I have to be really careful to keep my pieces close to me. “I have 2 red and 3 yellow. That makes 5.” I can also write about this...
2 + 3 = 5. Repeat this demonstration a few times. 
Whole Group Explore: Students will play Shake, Shake, Shake with their partner. Each student will complete their own response paper. The first line will have the symbols (+, =), but the rest of the paper will require the students to write the entire equation. 
NOTE: This activity will be repeated over the next few days.
 Time for Kids: Celebrating Earth Day

The kids will be making an Earth Day Kid this afternoon. The thoughts they wrote this morning of how they would take care of the earth will be placed inside.
                                         

          ~A letter/permission form for our field trip will be in the Wednesday envelope.
