Just looking at something can spark an idea to write a story. We will practice how to do this by looking at a picture of a ball, cat, and teddy bear.
Math: Combining Sets up to 10
Next, each pair will need 1 number path and 10 snap cubes. Partner A lays down some chips on the number path and then Partner B lays down some more chips. Students then count to find the total, knowing the last number counted is the total.

~ Report cards will be sent home next Wednesday.
This lesson builds the foundation of combining sets a.k.a. ADDITION! We will not be using any symbols in this lesson. However, students will be working to combine simple sets. We will be using a number path to help the kids see this visually as well. I will use a poster that has trees and foxes to ask these questions:
“What are the two sets of trees we see? Yes, orange trees and yellow trees. How many orange trees? How many yellow trees? How many trees in all?” “How many big foxes? How many little foxes? How many foxes in all?”
