Reader's Workshop: Using the Reader's Theater book Farm Animals, the children will practice their parts in the story. Each group will be working on reading with expression.
Handwriting: Copy a Poem
The children are getting stronger at placing letters in their proper place between lines. Letters that go above the line 'poke through the ceiling'. Letters that go below the line 'poke through the floor and go to the basement.'

Math: Combining Sets to 5
Today the kids will be continuing to review their combos to five. I will demonstrate how to use their fingers to show combos to 5 {4 down, 1 up or 3 down, 2 up}.
Next, I will lay down 5 red/yellow counters and ask, “How many counters will we have? We will have five. Now I’m going to place the five counters in my cup, and when I spill the cup, we will see how many yellow I have and how many red I have. “Look what we have...3 and 2. Let’s check to see if 3 and 2 are on our friends of 5 chart. We will continue playing several rounds together, and then the kids will play Spill the Cup! with their partner. At the conclusion of this activity, the kids are making their own 'Make Five' booklets.
