Sight Word Focus: all
Literacy Jobs
Writer's Workshop: Narratives Can Have a Hook
Math: Taking a Closer Look at Square and Rectangle
We will focus on rectangles and squares in the story, Circus Shapes by Stuart Murphy. The kids will focus on the number of sides and vertices of each and help me count the them. We will look closely at rectangles and squares to focus on the fact that a square has four equal sides and a rectangle has 2 long and 2 short sides. Next, the kids look closely at the faces of the solid shapes and notice the circle base of the cylinder, cone, and square base of a cube. They will have time to explore finding the flat shapes within the solid shapes. Lastly, the kids will lay their solid shapes flat and then trace around them. Once they lift up the solid shape, they will discover a flat shape.
~I am looking forward to visiting with the rest of you at conferences this evening!
~Tomorrow is a late start day. School begins at 10:15.
