We will look closely at how to build 11 the '10' way. Again, our goal is to help children see teen numbers as "10 and some more."
I forgot to post this about math yesterday...

We begin a new unit today called Numbers 10-19.

  **A note from the author...

Teen numbers are no easy task for kindergarten students. You will hear the repeated term, “Ten and some extras.” It is vital when learning teen numbers that your child knows they are teen numbers for one reason only...they all contain ONE group of ten. We want to be sure your child does not think teen numbers are a 1 and a 2.

1 and 2 make 3 and not 12. 

Your child should know and be able to explain that 10 and 2 make 12, not 1 and 2.

~We may just have to do a Reindeer Run through the halls this afternoon! Of course we need to bring jingle bells and play Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer!
