In this fiction text, children meet a young girl named Mei Mei and her grandpa, Gong Gong. Gong Gong teaches Mei Mei how to do tai chi, and she works hard to figure out the complex hand, arm, and leg movements. Mei Mei teaches Gong Gong how to do yoga, and he works hard to learn the different poses. Even though they both struggle to learn new things, they persevere.

Writing Activity: My Peep (See picture below.)
The kids gave their peep a yummy fruit snack treat yesterday and placed it back in a warm, plastic bag. Today, their peep will get another sweet treat... a mini marshmallow!

~Just look at those cute little chicks poking their head through! The kids will continue sitting on them today with hope that a surprise will hatch tomorrow!

Math: Add with Objects
We begin a new unit today called Addition Word Problems. The kids will work with snap cubes to solve simple word problems: "I had 3 pencils and 2 crayons. How many in all?" "I had 2 chairs and 6 more chairs. How many chairs in all?", etc.

~ Bubble Gum Day tomorrow...$2.00 per person with all proceeds going to a very special girl in our school community with Phelan-McDermid Syndrome.
~PTA plant sale orders are due tomorrow.
