 Math: More & Fewer
New Concept: Today we are going to talk again about more and fewer. This time I am going to take one of the number cards out and snap that many cubes together. Now when I put them behind my back my partner will pick a hand. This time we will put our pieces on a ten-frame and place it to the side of the "More/Fewer" spinner. We will use our math talk card, then spin. Whoever wins that spin will get a counter.   
Whole Group Explore: Now you will get a chance to play this game with your partner. Remember to play fair and be a good partner.   
Student Application: Students will practice writing 8, 9, 10
Students will color the items in the set that have fewer brown and more red.
Zero the Hero comes...Day 40!
 Beginning today, we will take time each day to learn about veterans. Our focus today will be on what it means to be brave or courageous. The children will receive a small paper booklet that explains what Veterans Day is.

~We now have a bakery play center in our classroom. The kids will be working in REAL flour and making bakery goods out of playdough. Oh, the fun that will be had!

Literacy Shelf: The children choose from a wide variety of activities to work with letters, sounds, and rhyming.

The children made it 10 minutes of uninterrupted 'Read to Self' time yesterday! On Tuesday, we will begin building stamina for 'Work on Writing'.

Character Education
 First, Mrs. Weninger will review the Social Detective skills (Use your eyes, ears, brain and heart) and then she will introduce the Unthinkable, WasFunnyOnce and Know it All Nellie.

Project: The Rainbow Fish
Yesterday we read The Rainbow Fish as a part of the Social Studies lesson on sharing. Today, the children will make the Rainbow Fish and create a sentence that says how they can be a good friend.

Library Day

The class is split into 3 groups: red, blue, purple. When the groups read, we are working on pausing, expression, and speed. Below is an example of one of the pages.

Math: More and Fewer
New Concept: Today we are going to talk about more and fewer. I am going to make two rows of snap cubes. One row has 4 and the other row has 6. I have a green row that has 4 cubes and a yellow row that has 6.  6 is more than 4.  I know this because if I line them up, I can see that I have 2 more of the yellow. They do not have a partner.  I can also say that I have fewer green cubes than yellow. NOTE: Best practice suggests you use “fewer” for things that can be counted like objects. “Less” is for items that can’t be counted, like liquids, sugar…. 
Whole Group Explore: Today you are going to play a new game. First I will take 10 cubes that are snapped together. Partner 1 will put them behind their back and break them in two. Partner 2 will guess a hand. Now partner one will show the two pieces.  You will use the math talk card to talk about whether one side is more or fewer.
Student Application: Students will practice writing 6, 7, 8.  
Students will color the items in a set that have more.
Students will count some of the items and write how many.
