This lesson will help the children work on what comes next in a variety of pattern sequences. They will use manipulatives from our classroom to create these patterns and build a pattern that their partner has to complete.

KinderLiteracy: The Three Little Pigs
The kids will answer simple recall questions such as: Where does this story take place? Who are the characters? What happened at the beginning, middle, end?  In addition, we will address related vocabulary (fortune, bundle, huffed, blaze). 

 Fire Safety: Stop, Drop, and Roll!
The children will learn how to do this technique if their clothes were to catch on fire.

  Irish Pride Celebration Today at 10:20

 Bringing our elementary students together builds community and school pride! Students of the month for September will be recognized as well as new students to Maple Lake.  The new character word for the month will also be introduced which is kindness. We end the celebration by singing our Irish Pride song.

~It looks like it will be a nice walk to the fire station. We plan to leave at 12:30. Parents who are attending, sign in at the office and you can wait for us in the front entry.

As the title says, today's lesson will give the kids opportunities to compare groups of items and determine which group has less.
Project: Rake

The kids will cut and assemble parts for a rake and dictate what they like to do in the leaves.
 "I like to ______ in leaves."
(This was posted as a project for last week but it will be done today.)

The kids will be tasting a red, green, and yellow apple and vote for their favorite one.

We will graph the results.

~Music Today

 
 Monday is class color day for homecoming week...Kindergarten is purple. The shirt you provided for your child at the beginning of the year is at school and has been tie-dyed purple. It will be available for them to wear on Monday.

As the title says, today's lesson will give the kids opportunities to compare groups of items and determine which group has more. This is building the foundation for counting & cardinality.

KinderLiteracy
Using actions, the kids will review the vocabulary words (ripe, bloom, thud, dribbles, and rot) from the story. Next, we will compare/contrast the stories, Apples for Everyone and Ten Red Apples, to see the similarities and differences between the two.

Mrs. Weninger will introduce the children to the superhero character, Superflex like the photo above. He helps children be problem solvers when Unthinkables get into their brains. Some of these may be Mean Jean, Blurting Bob, and more. Mrs. Weninger will teach about these characters in the weeks to come.

  Our library time is from 9:50-10:20. Books will be due back on the following Tuesday but can be sent back earlier when finished.

It's our 20th day of school already! Zero the Hero, our puppet friend will be here again!
