 Writer's Workshop: By popular demand...Beat the Teacher!
Your children love this game to practice writing our sight words. It's something you could do at home too. How many times can you write a designated sight word in 20 seconds, 15 seconds?
 Handwriting: lowercase h & b (We didn't get to this yesterday.)

 Math: Fair Share
New Concept: Today we are going to continue to practice sharing so that everyone gets the same amount. This time we will try it with a bigger group. I went to my parents house for dinner last week. My mom had these wonderful little chocolates. We decided to share them equally. There were 5 of us. Count out 20 cubes and ask a few students to pretend to be your family members. Repeat the process from the previous day of handing one cube to each of the 5 people in your “family.” Ask: How many did they each get?
Whole Group Explore: Today you will work with your partner like you did yesterday. You will need to share them equally with your partner. We will pretend with paper cookies. First spin the spinner and count out that many cubes. Then share them equally.

 The robins will be returning and singing to us...a sure sign of spring! Today, the kids will learn more about the life cycle of a robin, what it looks like and sounds like. We will make a robin and dance with robin puppets we make.

 Math: Fair Share

New Concept: The other day I went to the donut shop to get donuts for my family. So when we got home I wanted to share them so we each had the same amount. I got a dozen donuts which is the same as 12. There were 3 at our house that day, so watch!

Count out 12 cubes. Do I have enough for everyone to get another? Continue until all 12 cubes are handed out. Did they each get an equal amount?

Whole Group Explore: Now you will work with your partner and pretend that you got a box of cookies. You will need to share them equally with your partner. We will pretend with paper cookies.

First spin the number spinner and count out that many cubes then share them equally.   
Student Application: The children will show their individual work of sharing cookies evenly.

What happens when we mix red, yellow, and blue play-doh?
Our lesson today will allow the kids to explore what happens when red & yellow are mixed, red & blue are mixed, and yellow & blue are mixed.
