It's our Track & Field Day and we are ready to have TONS of fun!
The children will be participating in the 50 meter dash, long jump, softball throw and a bubble station.
 😊 At the conclusion of the events, we will resume our normal day.

Shhh!! Don't tell anyone...
We NEVER get to run and scream in the halls at school! Since everyone will be outside for Track & Field, we are going to take advantage this! 

                    Miss Shotts is helping out at T & F so music class is canceled for today.

                                                                                                                                                

~We will watch SING and have popcorn this afternoon.

Phonemic Awareness: Long/Short Vowel 'u' Review

 Literacy Jobs 
I will continue to work on individual assessments while the other children work independently at their jobs.

Math: The Penny
We begin focusing on coins with the penny today.
Naming the coins and telling their value can be tricky for some kids. Keep exposing your kids to coins so they learn their names and values. (penny, nickel, dime, quarter)

Phonemic Awareness: Long/Short Vowel 'o' Review

 Literacy Jobs 
I will continue to work on individual assessments while the other children work independently at their jobs.

 Writer's Workshop: Listen & Write
I will dictate simple 5-6 word sentences for the kids to write on their whiteboard. At this time, it is important that the children hear as many sounds they can in each word rather than the correct spelling.

Math: Digital Clock
The kids will work on matching the digital time to the analog clock and writing the digital time. I will also mention the reason that we write the two zeros is to represent the minutes.

During this time I will be assessing each child for report cards.

Math: Analog Clock
Again, the kids will be working on telling time to the hour. Today, each child will work with their own clock like pictured below. 

   Computer class today.

New activities are in place for these last two weeks of school. Some of the skills these activities cover are: sight words, sentence building, blending sounds in words, word families, writing and independent reading.
**Reminder**
Book Club is over...I am assessing each child throughout the week for report cards.

Math: Telling Time: Day 2
We will work with the analog clock again today. The kids will be interacting with the story, It's About Time by: Stuart J Murphy by looking at all the types of clocks there are and telling the time to the hour. We will use our bodies to make the motions of a clock and finally, play a game that matches the wording of the time to the hour (ex: 8 O'clock) to an analog clock.

Library Today

Today, Mrs. Thomas has a fun activity the children will participate in. It centers around the story, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.

Literacy Jobs 

Math: Time to the Hour

We continue to focus on time to the hour today. (Again, the kids have been drawing the hands on their own analog clock during calendar time each day.) As a whole group, the kids will make a life-size clock and make the motions of going around the clock. It is important that the children use the language, O'clock as they state each number. Next, the kids will roll two dots cubes to find the total and draw the hands on the clock. 

We will switch gears at the end of the lesson to review addition and subtraction by making Gus the Plus and Linus the Minus.

   The kids will have computer class since they missed it Tuesday.
