 Popcorn Word:  by
Phonics: Blend Syllables: The teacher names a sport by saying the word in syllables and the children put it back together by blending the syllables and naming the sport. EX: ten-nis
 Language Arts: We will create a 'Predict and Wonder' list together about some nursery rhyme characters that are put in the same story. Next, the kids will hear the story The Enormous Watermelon retold by Brenda Parkes and Judith Smith. This story is about these nursery rhyme characters. The kids will analyze the story elements and look back on the 'Predict and Wonder' list to compare what they predicted and wondered about to what actually happened in the story.
Handwriting: W (Big line down & in, big line up & out-repeat)

DAILY 5: New Word Work: 1) Matching beginning sounds
                                                                            2) Stamp the beginning sound
                          New Work on Writing: 1) Phonetic writing of our favorite things
                            2) Draw and label it
 A storybook reader is scheduled for 10:10 to read Where's My Truck?
Math:  Break the Train
The children build patterns using connecting cubes then take the repeating units apart to record their work.Their work focuses on:
~Identifying the unit of a repeating pattern.
~Determining what comes next in a repeating pattern.
~Constructing repeating patterns.
**Day 2 of this lesson**
~Zero the Hero comes. It's day 60!
